  1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
  2.  
  3. PrintSwitch 2.1 - A simple utility that makes changing your default 
  4. Windows printer or its settings as easy as one click or HotKey press! 
  5. Automatically configures itself for your system and displays all currently 
  6. installed printers. Shows current default selection and paper orientation in 
  7. normal or icon state and automatically senses any changes. Also allows access 
  8. to printer setup, toggling Print Manager on & off, Print Manager priority settings
  9. and toggling paper orientation. User configurable for horizontal or vertical format, 
  10. screen position, button font size, button size, button color & HotKey key assignment. 
  11. It also has options of remaining on top of all running programs and starting as an 
  12. icon. If you have more than one installed printer and change them regularly, this 
  13. utlity is for you! Great for networks, printers with multiple connections and fax 
  14. modems! Shareware. Requires VBRUN300.DLL not included.

  17. CHANGES TO VERSION 2.1
  18.  
  19. 1> Choice of previous vertical format or new horizontal format to save space.
  20.    Toggle between the formats with right mouse click on Title Bar. Horizontal
  21.    format sized vertically to same dimensions as title bar/menu bar of most 
  22.    desktop shells (i.e. Norton Desktop, Program Manager, etc.). Use key
  23.    combination Alt + keyboard arrow keys to position it exactly where you want
  24.    in very small increments.

  26. 2> Now supports user definable HotKeys for control of various PrintSwitch 
  27.    functions at any time from within any application.
  28.  
  29. 3> Cycle through printers with right mouse button when iconized.
  30.  
  31. 4> Revised Portrait/Landscape button.

  33. 5> Print Manager status now displayed in icon. Print Manager priority settings
  34.    now available with right mouse button click on Print Mgr button (vertical 
  35.    format only).

  37. 6> You may now use the up/down arrow keys for printer selection when normal size
  38.    in vertical or horizontal format.

  40. 7> PrintSwitch will now automatically sense changes to printer connections (i.e. 
  41.    change from LPT1 to LPT2) and addition or deletion of a printer using Windows
  42.    Control Panel. When this occurs, PrintSwitch automatically restarts to update 
  43.    its display.

  72. Run INSTALL.EXE. All distribution files will be copied to the directory of your choice 
  73. (.VBX and .DLL files will be placed in your Windows/System directory). For optimal 
  74. ease of use, it is recommended that you have PrintSwitch automatically load when 
  75. Windows is started.

  79. If you are upgrading from an older version of PrintSwitch OR have another program installed 
  80. that uses an old version of MESSRECD.DLL, you will get an error message "sub or function not 
  81. defined" when starting or closing PrintSwitch. You must delete ALL copies of the outdated 
  82. version of MESSRECD.DLL from your system and reinstall the newest version from the PSW20.ZIP 
  83. archive. It should be dated 10/5/93 or newer and be 1,792 bytes in size. It should be 
  84. reinstalled in your Windows/System directory. Other programs that used the old version will 
  85. not be affected by the update.

  156. If you install or remove a printer driver or change connections using Control 
  157. Panel, the information displayed by PrintSwitch will not be current. Unload
  158. and re-start PrintSwitch to update it's display.
